Functieomschrijving

BetaSoft is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, test and maintain software for embedded and connected systems. You will work on the complete engineering lifecycle, from understanding technical requirements and system architecture to implementation, debugging, integration and validation. The role is suitable for engineers interested in IoT, connected devices, embedded Linux, firmware and security-conscious software development.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain embedded software using C and C++.
  • Participate in firmware, device and hardware/software integration.
  • Debug complex issues using logs, testing and systematic root-cause analysis.
  • Work with embedded Linux and ARM-based platforms where required.
  • Integrate communication technologies and protocols such as TCP/IP, Bluetooth, ZigBee or LoRa.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware and product teams on technical requirements and architecture.
  • Write maintainable, documented and testable code.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing and continuous improvement.

Vereisten

Relevant Experience: 0+ years — Must-have. Strong academic, internship, personal-project or professional experience can be considered.

Sector Experience: 0+ years — Must-have. Experience in embedded systems, IoT, electronics, automotive, industrial technology or connected devices is an advantage.

Must-Have Skills:

  • C or C++ programming.
  • Understanding of embedded software development concepts.
  • Linux fundamentals.
  • Git or equivalent version-control experience.
  • Debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic understanding of networking and TCP/IP.

Must-Have Soft Skills:

  • Analytical thinking.
  • Problem solving.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Clear technical communication.

Must-Have Language Skills: English — professional working proficiency.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • STM32 or other microcontroller experience.
  • ARM Cortex experience.
  • Embedded Linux or OpenWRT.
  • Python scripting.
  • Bluetooth, ZigBee or LoRa.
  • Docker.
  • Embedded security or cybersecurity knowledge.
  • CI/CD and automated testing.

Nice-to-Have Soft Skills:
