Minimum hourly wage according to job level
For driving personnel in freight transport, your minimum wage depends on your job level. Your employer determines that level using a point system based on ten criteria.

These minimum wages apply to driving personnel at employers covered by Joint Subcommittee 140.03 (road transport and logistics for third parties). For other drivers, for example in passenger transport, a different joint committee may apply.
Good to know
- A minimum, not an average. This is the lowest gross salary your employer is allowed to pay. Your employer may always pay more.
- The point system. Your employer determines your job level based on ten criteria, including the required driving licence, your autonomy and planning, the number of delivery addresses per day, physical exertion, and the complexity of loading and unloading. For the driving licence, you receive 1 point for BE or lower, 5 points for C, and 7 points for CE.
- In training. An employee in training receives the salary of the category corresponding to the vehicle he drives 6 months after his hiring. If you have successfully completed the VDAB training course to become a truck driver, that period at the company is limited to 3 months.
- Availability time is paid to 99% of the minimum wage.
- Different vehicles? If you drive vehicles with a different tonnage, you are entitled to the highest wage, as long as you work at least 50% of your daily time in that category.
- Student workers receive at least 90% of the hourly wage.
- Indexing. In January 2026, minimum wages were indexed by 2.18%; the difference between the minimum wage and the real wage is maintained.
