Flexi-jobs: this is how it works in 2026
With a flexi-job, you earn extra money alongside your main job or pension, during hours you agree upon yourself. Since July 1, 2026, the system has in principle been extended to the entire private and public sector; only a limited number of sectors and positions remain excluded. As a result, you can find flexi-jobs not only in hospitality and retail, but also in logistics, transport, cleaning, and many other sectors.
Who is eligible for a flexi-job? You must have worked at least 4/5th time for one or more other employers for three quarters prior, or be a statutory pensioner. A flexi-job with your own employer is not permitted. You receive your flexi-wage without deductions, together with 7.67% flexi-holiday pay. In the hospitality sector, the minimum is 12.11 euros per hour (from 1 September 2026); in other sectors, it is at least the salary scale for your position. Above 18,440 euros in flexi-income per year (2026), the tax exemption lapses, except for statutory pensioners. You can read all amounts and rules on our page about the flexi-wage.
